Lime Thyme

Lime thyme is a new herb in the garden this year. I hope it's hardy because I'd like this one to be a keeper.

Black-Eyed Susans Waking Up

These black-eyed Susans are in their full blooming glory by mid-August.

Pumpkin Baby

So far, no squash bugs have attacked this pumpkin plant. But I've heard squash bugs are a-plenty this year, so I keep checking every day.

First Sunflower

This sunflower is a volunteer. I have planted sunflowers near this spot in previous years, but I don't remember them looking like this one. It's welcome in the garden, though.

Oregano in Bloom

The oregano is in bloom. It's a bee's paradise. I clip leaves when stirring up big batches of spaghetti sauce.

Hummingbird Shuns the Feeder

I put up two hummingbird feeders and have many hummingbird-friendly plants...and what does this guy like to eat? The little bugs that gather on the outdoor curtains.

Garden Bounty

Some garden goodies...still waiting for cherry tomatoes and more cucumbers.

English Rose

An English rose in the rose garden. This one fades to almost pure white.

Old Fashioned Rose

An old fashioned-type rose that starts out quite red and then "fades" to a pinkish red.

Another Rose Garden Star

A lovely peachy-pink rose with dark green foliage. This is a favorite for cutting.

Mini Rose Spray

This spray of mini roses doesn't belong to me. It's a welcome visitor over the fence from a neighbor's yard.

Maybe a Daylily

A clump of a lily plant on the southeast side of the house. I believe it's a type of daylily, although the flower color and shape is quite different from other daylilies in the yard.

Baby Cuke

Cucumbers are one of the main crops in my garden beds. That sprig of a plant behind it looks a little like dill, but it's flat leaf parsley going to seed.

Another Shade of Bee Balm

Another shade of this dependable perennial and favorite for hummingbirds. Bee balm (Monarda).

Orange Zinnias

Good, old dependable zinnias. This splash of orange is bordering veggies in a garden bed.

Magenta Bee Balm

Another bee balm (Monarda) plant in a slightly different shade of pinkish purple. This plant is a perennial that spreads just a bit. The leaves have a light lemon scent.

Crazy Daisies

These Shasta Daisies are called Crazy Daisies. Some flowers are fringed and curled, and some aren't, although they're all on the same plant.

Sugar Snap Peas

We call them snow peas, and they ripened late this year. Plus, our cool spring has helped prolong their life. They will wither in the heat.

Flower with a Court Jester Hat

This is the flower of a bee balm (Monarda) just starting to bloom. Hummingbirds really love these plants, and I have several in different colors.

Produce is Ripening

The first one of the season. This zucchini was chopped up and sauteed with chicken in jerk seasoning, and then plopped in a salad of lettuce, corn, cucumbers and tomatoes.

Peach Rose

This peach colored rose really has a light peach scent. As this rose opens and ages, it turns light yellow.

Miss America Rose

A winner for poise and beauty in my rose garden, this hot magenta rose has always been a stand-out.

Butterfly Bush

I was hoping to find a customer here, but no luck today. This is a butterfly bush (Buddleia).

Creeping Thyme

Creeping thyme. This is a favorite of bees and butterflies, and sprigs are perfect for chicken dishes.

Munstead Lavender

The Munstead lavender is blooming. The flowers are lighter colored than the Hidcote lavender, and the scent is sweeter and lilac-like.

Oriental Lily

The Oriental lilies are blooming on the east side of the house. These plants took a couple of years to recover after a big hail storm ripped them to shreds.

They're On The Way

My coveted garden bed crop may have a few goodies to share in a couple of weeks. I grow mostly cherry tomatoes for salads, snacking and salsa.

A small clump of dianthus to brighten up the corner of a garden bed.

Poppy Seed Pod

The Oriental poppies are done for the season. This is one of the seed heads left behind.
