Year of the Gerbera Daisy
In gardening circles, this is the year of the Gerbera daisy. The National Garden Bureau chose it as its choice for an annual to try this year. They work well in planters and as landscape color spots in our growing zone.

Garden Scourge
See that nasty little critter chowing down on the center of my Gerber daisy? That's a tobacco budworm, and they invited a multitude of friends to invade my petunias. I ripped them all out, dumped the soil and washed the containers before replanting with garden mums. These worms are hard to shake, and once they move in, not much can be done.Friday, July 23, 2010
