Delphinium: No Stakes Needed Variety

Lesson learned. I've had these for several years, and although they were sold as delphiniums that wouldn't need to be staked, guess what?

The light blue version is taking its blooming turn. The dark blues bloom first.

I have a variety that was sold as one that didn't have to be staked...I've found that was untrue. I'm not staking this year. When they fall over, I'm cutting them for indoor display.

I love the cross-dyed look of this delphinium. I have to stake them or they fall over.

Monkshood or Wolfbane

The monkshood is blooming. I have it planted along with delphiniums. They look similar, but bloom at different times. The flower spikes are about 6 feet high.
