Weeping Cherry Blooming

Our dwarf weeping cherry is in full bloom. This tree is charming in the spring and fall, and yet, I've been tempted to axe it because it's a buggy thing. I've tried all kinds of treatments, and paid others to treat it, and it seems to insist on having a symbiotic relationship with creepy pests.

Woah it is a beauty! Where did you purchase it from?

It came with the house when we purchased 10 years ago.

Hi there, my wife would love dwarf weeping cherry trees. Do you know what size yours has grown to, as the ones we've been offered are 2.5m x 2.5m.
Thanks very much,
Paul

Hi Paul - the tree has been about 4 feet tall for the 10 years we've lived here - and 4 feet wide. So I think it's done on its vertical growth. The trunk has grown slightly fatter during that time. The tree WILL spread horizontally unless you keep it in check with regular trimming.

Hi Debbie, wow thanks for getting back to me so quickly!
I just need to find the tree over here now (I'm in Scotland)
We told our gardener what we wanted (one was for a small memorial garden) and he brought the wrong ones, so my wife was very upset.
I'm so pleased I found your site as I know have an image I can show people and also dimensions as well.
Thank you so much!
Paul

Hi Debbie, I hope you are well.
Sorry to be a pest - and I know this is a long shot, as your tree came with the house - but I was wondering if you knew what type of tree your weeping blossom is?
We've now been offered a prunus autumnalis but this grows to 6-7 feet tall and has purple leaves, however my wife has her heart set on an exact copy of yours...
Many thanks again,
Paul

Hi Paul. I wish I DID know because I've been asked many times, even by my neighbors, who want one just like it. As fair as height, it really is just 4 feet tall. So it's definitely a dwarf variety of some sort. Good luck.

Thanks again Debbie. I'll pass this onto the local grower and see if there's anything they can come up with!
And I have to say, I'm really enjoying your pics of Boise - it looks like a beautiful place you have there.

Just enjoying your lovely site. Could the dwarf cherry be 'Prunus Snow Showers', see this for UK source Paul:
