The Heartache of Hops

The battle of the hops has begun. Yes, I know that hops are highly desired by craft brewers and even bathtub brewers. But in my yard...they're invasive weeds. They spread by seed and by root. I won't win. 

Bumper Crop Already This Year

I spent much of the weekend harvesting weeds. It was beautiful weather and that was a temptation to put out tenders, but freezing temps are in the forecast this week. We're not out of frost danger until about the second week in May.

Mystery Corn

Isn't it interesting to let some "weeds" grow just to see what they turn out to be? I think this is corn, although I don't see any fruit yet.

Pretty Weed

I have pulled dozens of these plants out of the yard every year for 11 years. They might be winning. These are cornflowers.

My Daughter Picked Me a Bouquet

My daughter picked me a bouquet of "daisies" while we were cleaning up the yard. I think this is a safe place for these weeds, so they don't spread!

A Healthy Garden Weed

Look....somebody didn't weed the garden bed. I don't know how these got away from me. They look good, though, and so I'm leaving them!
